About this blog
Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.”
-Luke 12:22
Why would I name my blog about healthy eating after a verse that says, “Don’t worry”? Isn’t that verse saying we shouldn’t care about food? Well not caring is much different from not worrying. You see, worrying is the exact opposite end of the spectrum from not caring. We have complete apathy on one side and worry on the other, with a healthy balance of conscious eating in the middle.
What I do in this blog is help you learn how to be self-controlled in your eating without letting food become your ever-present thought. God bountifully feeds the ravens even though they do not store up food for themselves (Luke 12:24). He arrays the lilies more beautifully than all of Solomon’s palaces even though they don’t toil or spin (Luke 12:27). God also has a bountiful, beautiful life in store for you when you eat and live in a way that glorifies Him.
I use the Bible heavily in this blog because “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work,” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Being thoroughly equipped for every good work includes being physically able to serve His Church. Think of how much good we could do in the world if we could wake up earlier, not stress about food, and spend less money on doctor bills! When we are focused on the Kingdom, we will not want to fill our bodies with junk food. We also will not become so overly zealous about maintaining perfect health because we know our hope is in Christ.
If you want to break free of addiction, learn how to eat and exercise with balance, or heal your body of aches, allergies, or disease, join me in diving into the Bible to find the unsurpassed wisdom that God has given us about healthy eating and living.
